I am the creative director of TIME, responsible for the design of one of the world's most iconic brands.

Creative Director
Designer. I design, concept and produce the cover of TIME magazine. Challenged each week with presenting some of the world’s biggest news stories, I have designed more than 700 covers in the past 12 years. I oversee the design of the brand on all platforms, including time.com, TIME for Kids and marketing, sales and promotion.
Manager. I handle all aspects of managing a creative staff of art directors, designers, graphic artists and researchers. I also commission and art direct some of the world's best photographers and illustrators. I manage an editorial operating budget and have continued to maintain quality and cost effectiveness.

Digital
Social. Currently art direct a weekly animated cover for TIME's 60 million+ social audience on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
iPad. I led TIME's editorial and design as the first weekly magazine to launch on the iPad, meeting with Steve Jobs and working with Apple to produce the first iPad issue from start to publishing in 40 days.
iPhone. I conceived and led TIME to produce the first fully-interactive weekly magazine designed specifically for the iPhone.
Web. Helped lead the creative process during a complete redesign of time.com.

Designer
Magazines. I have designed seven Person of the Year cover packages, several TIME 100 projects, dozens of special issues including 9/11, Steve Jobs and Michael Jackson, and hundreds of TIME cover stories and features over the past two decades.
Books. I’ve also designed more than two dozen books including Obama's Inauguration, Haiti, Ted Kennedy, The 100 Greatest Places in History, Barack Obama: Eight Years, Your Digital Life: The Ultimate Users Guide and Inside the White House. I also art directed Bracketology: The Final Four of Everything and wrote a bracket on the best NFL logos.
Newspapers. Served as the Features Design Coordinator at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for four years and led the design for the AJC's coverage of the 1996 Olympic Games.

Writer
Staff Writer. Prior to TIME, I was a sportswriter for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, with more than 1,100 published stories in six years. I covered local and professional sports and the PGA Tour. I also traveled with a NCAA college basketball team, serving as its beat writer for three seasons.
Digital. Aside from writing and concepting cover lines and headlines for TIME, I write occasional posts for time.com.

Speaker
Presenter & Teacher. I have presented at design conferences and workshops around the world, including speaking and teaching a two-day design workshop for journalists in Beijing, China and serving as a featured speaker at an international design conference in Amsterdam.
Lecturer. I speak at conferences, universities and festivals throughout the U.S., including New York, San Francisco, San Diego, Washington, D.C., Portland, Tampa, Montana, Las Vegas and Atlanta.
